I think I can safely say that every regular reader of this blog is a huge fan of things that only I care about. So it is very exciting when I can expose a loyal visitor to some website that he or she might never have found. The other day I posted about a hamburger made of bacon(!) and linked to a great website called A Hamburger Today.
Well, reader Dino decided to visit the site. (Dino actually makes up for roughly 2/3 of the readers of this blog. I represent about 31%, while Larry Goldman and Ted Yount comprise around 3%).
Anyway, Dino went to ahamburgertoday, loved it, and is now a frequent visitor to that site. In fact he wrote them an email, which they posted on their main page, which of course made Dino very excited.
This is why I love the internet. You can introduce people to cool songs, or bands, or books, or movies, and that's certainly satisfying, but if you introduce someone to a cool web site, more likely than not you're opening them up to some sort of interactive experience, maybe even a new community. That's pretty great.
